Their first product was called the Datamax I-1, which they sold to hospitals as an alternative to using paper charts while patients were undergoing surgery.

Michael Dell is the founder and CEO of Dell Technologies. He is also a philanthropist, having donated over $1 billion to various causes.
Dell was born in Houston, Texas on February 23rd 1965 to a Jewish family. His father was an orthodontist who passed away when Michael was just 16 years old. In 1983 he enrolled at University of Texas at Austin where he studied electrical engineering before dropping out after two semesters to start his own company with his friend Kevin Rollins called “PC’s Limited” which later became known as Dell Computers Incorporated (DCI).
In 1984 DCI released its first product called “Turbo PC” which sold for $795 USD and came preloaded with MS-DOS 5 operating system along with Microsoft Word 1 & 2 applications
