The company was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. The company’s stock trades on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the ticker symbol QLGC.
The company was founded by Raju Vegesna and Sanjay Mehta as Quantum Logic Systems Inc., which changed its name to QLogic Corporation in 1999. It went public on April 1st of 2000 with an IPO price of $12 per share; at this time it had annual revenues of $11 million. In 2001 they acquired Fibre Channel switch vendor InfiniBand Communications Corp., which brought them into direct competition with Cisco Systems’ Fibre Channel products line (which includes switches).

The number of employees has also increased significantly over time: There were just under 1,000 employees when they went public with their IPO back in 1999; now there are about 3,500 people working for them worldwide (including contractors).
