History of Hauppauge
Hauppauge was founded in 1992 by David H. Steckel, who named the company after his hometown of Hauppauge, New York. At first, Hauppauge specialized in producing TV tuner cards for PCs; however, over time it expanded into other areas such as video capture devices for digital camcorders and webcams.
Today’s Hauppauge is best known for its PVR (personal video recorder) products such as WinTV-HVR series products that allow users to record live TV broadcasts onto hard drives or other storage devices like USB flash drives or memory cards inserted into their computers’ expansion slots
