Panasonic is a Japanese multinational corporation that produces electronics, electrical equipment, and audio products. It was founded in 1918 as Matsushita Electric Housewares Manufacturing Company, Ltd., and changed its name to Panasonic Corporation in 1955. The company’s headquarters are located in Kadoma City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan; it has factories all over the world including China and Malaysia.
The company got its start making light bulbs for household use before expanding into radios and televisions during World War II when many other companies were forced to stop production due to wartime shortages of materials such as aluminum foil and glass tubes used in vacuum tubes (which were used as amplifiers). After the war ended they continued producing consumer electronics until 1954 when they began manufacturing transistor radios under license from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI). In 1958 they introduced their first transistor television set which had an integrated tuner chip developed by TI called “Tuner-Transistor Module” or TTM-1
