PDF Extra has been designed from the ground up to be as efficient as possible, ensuring its stability on a wide range of devices. Still, if you are unsure whether your PC is up to the task, here are the official minimum system requirements that apply to all current versions and editions of PDF Extra.

Product versions

The latest release of PDF Extra for Windows can be found on our official download page. The product in turn is segmented into several different licenses, depending on your use case:

  • PDF Extra Premium: the cheapest license offering access to all core features minus PDF conversions. The license is subscription-based
  • PDF Extra Ultimate: our most popular option that also includes high-quality PDF conversions. The license is subscription-based
  • PDF Extra 2023: a one-time payment that gives you permanent access to all essential features and includes up to 1 year of free maintenance updates

Subscription vs. lifetime license

As mentioned above, PDF Extra’s Premium and Ultimate pricing tiers are based on a recurring subscription model, which is charged annually. Signing for any of our subscription plans guarantees you access to the latest software updates and features as soon as they arrive.

Lifetime versions are generally more expensive than our Premium and Ultimate tiers because such licenses never expire. The latest lifetime version and the only one users can currently purchase is called PDF Extra 2023 and offers nearly all of the features present in PDF Extra Ultimate. However, any new features or functionalities beyond that will remain inaccessible until we decide to launch a new lifetime edition of PDF Extra.

If you visit our downloads page, you will also see PDF Extra 2019 and PDF Extra 2021 as available options. These are legacy versions, meaning they are no longer being sold and updated. We’ve kept them so that people who have purchased these product versions in the past can still freely download and install them as many times as needed.

Easy to active PDF Extra

License activation

Simply installing and running PDF Extra will boot the free version of our software, which while usable, is somewhat limited in features. Luckily, you can easily activate your license from our website or directly within the application with either an account or a serial key.

Let’s examine both options in more detail.

Activating PDF Extra with an account

Creating an account

You can create a new account by logging in with an existing Google, Facebook, or Apple account, as well as create a separate PDF Extra account. To access the user login portal, click on the user icon located in the top right corner of our website, next to the search bar.

In case you don’t want to use any of your existing accounts for security or other reasons, you can create a brand new account by clicking on the “register now” link below the sign-in options.

Next, simply fill out some details, such as your email, full name, and password to create a PDF Extra account.

To log into your newly created account:

  1. Go back to the login panel and type in your PDF Extra email and password.

  2. You will be redirected to our home page. To access your account settings, click on the user icon again and then on “My Account”.My Account website section
  3. A new window will open with a list of all your currently active MobiSystems subscriptions, quick access to the MobiDrive cloud, and an option to activate PDF Extra with a serial key (more on that later). You can also change your profile name and password, add a new email address, or even delete your account, which will erase your account data.

  1. Log into your user profile.
  2. Click on “My Account”.

In-app activation

  1. Launch PDF Extra.

  3. Type in your account credentials and hit “Continue”.
  4. Your license is now active.

TIP: You can also sign in from the “Activate” menu in the bottom left portion of your screen.

You can also activate PDF Extra without creating an account, but this way you will miss out on a lot of benefits, such as free cloud storage and the ability to track and manage your licenses.

Website activation

  1. Visit https://pdfextra.com/activate.
  2. Enter your activation key. This will download a PDF Extra launcher with your preactivated license.
  3. Run the launcher and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. You can now start using your PDF Extra license.

In-app activation

  1. Launch PDF Extra.

Starting a free trial

In case you haven’t yet bought a PDF Extra license, but wish to test the waters without going through the hassle of creating an account or activating a product key, we also offer a 14-day free trial option.

To activate it:
